About PublicUI

PublicUI is a place where people gather to find, share and organize information about each other. At PublicUI, you can:

  • Search for information on anyone by entering the person's name and optional "tags" describing the person;
  • Initiate a new profile of anyone who does not already have one (select relevant search results and hit the "Go..." button after performing your search);
  • Contribute content (tags, friends' names, pictures) to anyone's profile;
  • Select additional web links (images and text) to help "fill out" a person's profile;
  • Edit anyone's profile;
  • Communicate with others by posting comments on people's message boards;
  • Collaborate with everyone to create a useful directory of everyone;
  • Check to see whom we are all looking for most often (click Popular Inquiry Names link on home page).

    The purpose of PublicUI is to bring everyone--neighbors, colleagues, co-workers, acquaintances, friends, relatives near and far--closer together by providing a bridge between our offline and online worlds. As a community of users of the PublicUI website, we (U and I) all participate in a purely democratic forum bearing similarities to small townhall meetings:

  • Attendance open to the general public: Neither login nor registration is required to participate;
  • Free and open dialog: Everyone may search, view and contribute content to profiles of everyone;
  • Decision by majority vote: Site content is "managed" collaboratively through open community voting on individual content items.

    With governance "of the people, by the people and for the people," we are creators, editors and consumers of our own content.

    We at PublicUI believe that empowering people to "do the right thing" will "bring out the best in all of us." Imagine a fair and just world in which honesty and candor prevail, where we express ourselves in public, online as well as offline, using our real names, not screen names. When we are free to voice our opinion in public about others, and others are equally free to speak openly about us, the Golden Rule ("Do unto others as you would have them do unto you") should prevail--and if ever it does not, we should exercise our collaborative editorial powers to improve the content of this site. Together, let's foster a refreshing, wholesome and uplifting experience for everyone!

    While building this website for everyone's benefit, PublicUI's founder, Lloyd Sakazaki, has worn many hats--idea guy, self-funded entrepreneur, worker, programmer, webmaster-in-training. Please send any comments and feedback you may have to lloyd@publicui.com. Thanks so much.
